I've had to switch back from EFT to checks. Don't ask why, but it's complicated.

If I receive the check at the beginning of next month, how long can I keep it? Is there a set period? Or could I wait, for example, 2 months (or as long as I wish) before taking it to the bank?

It may actually say on the check. I think that in the US, though, six months is the maximum.

yep 6 months. I found one that was just over 6 months old and asked Google about it, they said they expire after 6 months and issued me another one.

gopi
how can you discover 4k worth of checks? those would of been cashed the minute they reached my hand. don't take me the wrong way, we should all be so lucky that 4k can just slip our minds :)

Just to be on the safe side, do not wait more than 3 months.

I always cash it asap. I'm worried there's a hidden clause that says "... this check will self destruct in six months should you choose not to cash it..."
