Google Recruiting Someone to Represent Us?

Google are advertising a number of jobs, one of which seems very relevant to us: AdSense Product Specialist [google.com]. The name may sound technical and innocuous, but when you look at the job description, it takes on a particular importance for us:

Google has an immediate need for an energetic team player to help us represent the worldwide AdSense publisher base and their product needs.... This person will act as the primary point of contact for our internal teams regarding feature improvements and publisher issues... Responsibilities:... Provide verbal and written feedback to Product Managers on new and existing products, representing the AdSense Online team and publishers... Actively solicit feedback internally and externally with respect to product needs and enhancements... Be the cross-functional champion of AdSense publisher needs...

It would be good if whoever got the job was a member (or at least joined) this forum.

I'd prefer Google to solicit feedback always from more than one publisher (the more, the better). Opinion of a single "representative" may not be so representative (it is very likely to be biased). Only a "modernist" mosaic of views can give them some truthful and useful picture. Hopefully, the subjective opinion of this person (whoever it will be) will not be taken as "what all the publishers want".

According to his user profile, ASA has made only 18 posts since April 24th, and hasn't posted since May 31st.

i am just wondering if previous ASA's were just regular employees from the Adsense team, or were actually hired according to the job description of the job now being advertised.

If this is a new position being created, could it be that Google plans to listen a little more to publishers' feedback?

The AdWords forum had a thread recently welcoming AWA2... introduced by AWA1!

I too think that our ASA was quite probably NOT a dedicated position and, more to the point, quite conspicuous in her/his absense as of late.

I can see that ASA's role might have been more to read and observe, and act as a "Noise filter" to feed back any salient points to Google rather than to jump fully into forum life.

What I'd like to see is not so much active involvement here, but someone capable of kicking butt to champion publishers concerns. If they take feedback from this forum but aren't too involved in posting here that's fine by me. I'd rather they spent their time achieving results on our behalf than being a major poster here.

I think more important than taking forum feedback to product managers is the ASA's ability to interact with forum members, dispel myths and confirm fears ;-)

The feedback bit is well covered outside this forum, on the AdSense site itself, this forum could raise new issues once in a while, and put weight and urgency to some requests.. But getting non template cnrl c cntrl v responses from an actual human at the plex, now that's a MasterCard moment.
