Targeting Ads more precisely

What's the best way?

I'm still getting ads on my pages which have no real relevance to the content and certainly wont appeal to my niche...

I'm still new to Adsense , so would be grateful if someone could give me some help / advice on how to make these ads more appropriate...

Have you checked through the page for keywords that might be attracting the inappropriate ads?

If you have and that didn't help, have you tried "section targeting"? Do a search at AdSense to find out how to use it--it's code that tells the AdSense bot to ignore specified sections of the page and/or emphasize others.

How long has this been happening? Sometimes it can take a few days for the ads to settle down.

The other thing is if you change a little text here and there, you can get rid of what's triggering the irrelevant ads.

Yes..at times it takes a few days to get the relevant ads..

If nothing works , you may write to Adsense helpdesk and they will sort it out.. But make sure your meet all the guidelines under TOS before you submit your page(s) to them.

I highly recommand the <-google_ad_section_start-> and <-google_ad_section_end->. I just went through my site with it and noticed a big difference within a week. Although i do get one car ad that I just can't seem to get rid of... but other then that, the ads being shown on particular pages are much more relevent.. I only wish I could add the code to my meta tag but since its against the TOS and having to be in the <body> </body> section I just have to optimize the page more.

The site is completely clean, no nonsense, white hat etc .. although a few broken links .. opps! my bad!

But it is a niche community in that it deals more with Asian culture .. so when I get a norwegian cruise offer it will never sell lol ...

I had no success with the AdSections.

I arrange now the source text of my sites

title
description
content
all AdSense code
buttons to prev and next page
navigation in own folder
general navigation
navigation to other sites from me

So the most relevant part is arranged around the ads.

The least relevant part is placed as far away as possible.

I am affiliated with a book seller who lets me post the book cover image and synopsis on my page. The books I choose are relevant to the page, Google reads the blurb which is additional content (plus what I already have on the page), and posts ads accordingly. Works beautifully for me nearly 100% of the time.

Let me give you an example ...

On one page I give details on how to get to a particular festival in Crawley UK using English roads M23 etc ...

And the ads are offering 'Great Jobs in Australia' lol

Now completely the otherside of the world is a little off...

There is a Crawley in Oz but I can't see how I can make it any clearer in my text as the details have to be accurate... In fact all 5 ads are for Oz ..

Not to mention, Jobs ( N/A) Emigration ( N/A ) Oz cruises ( N/A ) etc ...

otherside of the planet and nothing to do with festivals or indeed Asian culture ...

Here's something to think about: I'm not sure about this, but I believe that the keywords that make ads target your site are the same keywords that bring people into your site from SERPs. So, even though the ads may be off target for your regular viewers, they may be on target for those visitors who came in through Google.

Here is the official Google information on section targeting:

The most important thing to keep in mind is that after targeting "it may take up to 2 weeks before our crawlers take into account any changes you've made to your site."

I have used it quite a bit, by the way, and it has worked out splendidly for my situation.
