The money that you are so sending (in the form of an Adsense click) to that webmaster is not coming from thin air -it is coming out of some advertiser's hard-earned Ad budget.
If you feel so inclined to reward a webmaster, why not dig into your own pocket and send him a donation? If nothing else, provide him a link from your site and send him some quality traffic if you think his site deserves it.
For heaven's sake, please, don't punish advertisers like that -no matter how charitable your intent may be.
because i think the webmaster provides some useful information to me, i should give him something in return.
If that is indeed your position, they you could join, for example, WebmasterWorld to give something in return.
Any reason why you consider a webmaster supplying AdSense ads is doing more for you that you feel it necessary to reward them and not WebmasterWorld?
whenver i visit a website with adsense, i would give a click to the adverting
No way! I'd never click just for the hell of it. There was a similar discussion here [webmasterworld.com] where someone suggested "leaving a tip".
To do so is plain wrong. Advertisers are charged for nothing, webmaster's visitors don't convert, webmaster gets smartpriced etc. Ultimately, nobody benefits from this course of action.
So let's say Joe runs a website I like...
...and I stop by Joe's house to tell him how much I appreciate his work.
While I'm there talking with Joe, I see Tom walking down the sidewalk.
I run out to the sidewalk, accost Tom, and take $0.50 out of his pocket.
I then return to Joe, hand him the $0.50, and say "This is my way of showing you my support for your website."
Yep, you guessed it all other adsense publishers including yourself.
Google could however encourage adsense publisher support of fellow adsense publishers without the need for generating clickfraud. They could of course launch a new aspect to Adsense... hmm lemme think of a name for it...
* Edit - just saw the What features you would want so added the below to the other thread after writing it for this on *
GAPS - Google Adsense Publisher Support -
Description:
Are you an adsense publisher and discovered another website that offered interesting content to you that was displaying ads by google and you felt like clicking on the advert to support the webmaster?
(Obviously you do not click because it would be clickfraud by means of wellwishing without interest in the target website itself).
Simply use our GAPS feature in your adsense publisher account and insert the url of the page you found to be of interest. Enter the amount of donation that you would like to transfer to this webmaster and we will do the rest.
The donation amount will be subtracted from your next cleared payment before it is mailed to you and you will receive an email to confirm this has been done.
I think advertisers need to realise that its not all about conversion rate, and just having someone visit your site can have knock on effects which may be beneficial.
I would hazard a guess in saying that this post has been written soley with the intention of stirring the pot.
As the OP hasn't contributed again since the top post, it seems so.
I can't honestly say that many sites have stirred me to the point of sending them money. If I find a site that I like that is complementary to mine, I'll try and set up a reciprocal link. And if I find a site that I think my visitors will just love even though it's not really connected, I have a section on my links page to show that type of links.
It's my view that having others feel that your website is good, and quality sites wanting to exchange links is a much better feeling - and reward. Also, the link may generate both parties more money ultimately, so a much better reward all round.
