Your best/worst day?

Everyone has one I think. Would you share it?

I know the TOS does not allow to share revenue info, but we can use some words like apples=Clicks and oranges=$$ :-)
and of course your best day would be the one more oranges you collected.

My best: :-)

15 apples
3.35 oranges

My Worst: :-(

0 apples
0 oranges

Would you share it?

You can call clicks "apples" and dollars "oranges," but sharing the information on this forum is still a violation of Google's AdSense program policies.

Such numbers are meaningless anyway, because what you earn or what I earn has no bearing on what Publishers A, B, and C will earn.

Not another "how much do you make" thread!

You agreed to the Adsense TOS. Stick to what you said you'd do!

Time and time again this question comes up. What you want to know is how much people are making on Adsense. So in the same breath you are asking 'How do you make money on the internet'?

You can make a real bundle on adsense. If you do the math you can work it out yourself. But if you have the content. Content is what you need and people have got to be interested in your content. And you need lots of it.

There is no magic solution to making money on the internet and therefore the same applies to Adsense. I, as many here on the forum have been around for a long time. I sat down 4 years ago and thought, and thought, and thought some more. Did my research and came up with an idea that had not been covered on the internet.

12 hours a day for 4 years I worked on the site. I still do 12 hours a day. 2000 pages of reasonable content later Adsense came along.

Do I sit back and say finished. No I am reinvesting the Adsense money to employ freelance writers to make more pages.

The internet is ever changing. Once we had $6 cpm banners, then popups, now adsense.

My website started as a hobby, now it pays the bills, holidays and the car. But is that enough. The money is nice but that is not what drives me, it is a power thing. I once overheard a CEO of a very, very large website say ‘take over the friggin internet’

That is the drive, take over your chosen subject, make your site the best there is. You will never need to worry about the search engines, income or anything. You will find that it all comes to you.

Time and time again this question comes up.

I think this describes 90% of the threads in the Adsense section of WW and your entire post describes 90% of the succesful webmasters in the world.

Great post, Senseable. You've been living my life, I think. I took on consulting, web design and pr (public relations, not page ranking) jobs to stay alive over the last five years or so, spending every spare minute on my site, adding content, new subcategories, features, etc., employing free lancers, software engineers and so forth. We're now around 10,000 pages of solid content and one of about three major players in our niche. The others have spent millions to our dimes.

Though advertising is not our major source of income, AdSense has been a tremendous boost, by far the best-designed, least intrusive and even potentially useful Internet ad vehicle yet devised. It is also providing funding for more writers, more software, more bandwidth, etc.

The name of the game in publishing is to build a franchise (name recognition, credibility, audience), then defend it against the constant stream of newcomers. As someone once said, showing up every day is the first requirement. Keeping sites current and adding new content on a regular basis is what over time builds a solid franchise.

This is also advice worth listening to. Well said.

And senseable, excellent post.

I think that is what drives me. Knowing that I have created something for pennies, when the big boys are spending millions.

I always looked upon the internet as a chance to be a pioneer, bit like the old west in the US. The big boys were in place at the beginning but we all had and have a chance to get in and place our stake in our bit of real estate. The internet is still in it’s infancy. I would like to think I will be sitting on the beach in 10 years.

The name of the game in publishing is to build a franchise (name recognition, credibility, audience), then defend it against the constant stream of newcomers.

Very good point. I was able to get a short domain name and I will not rest until it is a household name. It was not that I was lucky, I just created one. I decided not to go down the road of www.buy_something_from_my_shop_because_I_am_trying_to_get_rich.com

So all in all it is not about the money. I rate my current success in dollars and traffic, they are good bench marks.

Oh and about sitting on the beach. Bet you a months Adsense I have a laptop down my shorts.

I know the feeling... Jsut started 3 months ago with what I think was a pretty solid idea for my first online business... I made in the last 4 days waht I could barely hope for in a whole month before, and the site is like an aircraft just after takeoff... on the way up...

Just don't think it'll be easy, there is a LOT of smart people out there. But surprisingly (or perhaps not so) they do make mistakes, and the best people are always bad at something. So despite the dense playing field, there are plenty of gaps for new people to squeeze in and fill...

I think in just 3 months I've created something others don't manage in their entire online career, and all I see is space to expand into all around.

Yeah, adsense should be treated as a bonus, so if it ever goes or whatever it's not going to be the be-all, end-all.

High end four figures a month is great, but if it goes one day the sites we do won't fold. As above, I won't be saying dollar figures, as I'm not going to violate TOS.

I was just trying to put some nice topic, so I apologize for the ones that didn't like it and thanks a lot for all the one that tried to make it positive giving all that good advice.

So the advertisers are paying for people to click to find return information. ouch, that's gotta hurt.

Hi Powdork,

I didn't get the point in your quote about my comment .. I was just meaning that because that post I supposed it could be a nice topic to know everyones records... but the idea of course didn't like.. that simple.

Nothing about advertiser.. clickers ... etc...

I was just noting that if people had a spike in day after christmas adsense clicks it was quite possibly people trying to find out how to return christmas gifts. It's kind of ironic that the adwords advertisers would be paying per click for people to find out how to return their merchandise. I just found it amusing.:)

It is a good idea to find out everyones records, I find it very interesting reading, and just for the record, your earnings are like a drop in the ocean for some of the people that use Adsense!
I have read some wild figures around the net, and I know them to be true. I myself earn pittance at the moment, this is (as it is always) my own fault, my content is not attracting enough visitors (though if the subject of the site was different I know the ads would get me more).

However, I will continue in my struggle against the repressive big boys and knock them off their pedestal very soon... :)

Best day? In six months, today!

Double the average revenue, slightly increased CTR, same number of impressions as average.

I blame this on some very good content posted today related to Apple (Apple Expo in SF is going on), plus the search on news.google.com for items relates to the CES starting tomorrow in Las Vegas.

Thanks news.google.com, www.google.com and related!
