Google Adsense, dynamic pages, & my site.tiny problem

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums, and a big time newbie. I launched my site 3 weeks ago and is doing quite well. I signed up for Google Adsense to cover my hosting cost. So if I make $4 a month, I'll be more than happy.

I built my site using a script called Nucleus. The problem I have is that the menu on the left is a file called "sidebar.inc". I have google ads code inserted there and on the main index. The main index is a dynamic thing, so google doesn't display any ads when visitors come to the main page. The relevant ads only show up when people go to that individual post.

I know many people have had this issue and I've been reading previous posts to gain more info, but I need someone to point me in the right direction of how to solve the problem, espcially with dynamic pages. I don't want money off google ads, but if my hosting costs are covered, I'd be happy.

The only problem with your post is that you've included a URL (which isn't allowed as per the site's TOS).

As for your problem, the fact that a page is dynamic isn't necessarily going to throw off tracking (consider that many sites have some sort of dynamic scripting making up pages). Adsense displays adverts based upon the content of a page, so if you have a page with little content (or lots of small portions of very different content) then you will struggle to get on topic adverts.

In my experience here there is the 'quick fix' and the 'real fix'.

The real fix as outlined to me by google support is this: "For your rebuild, I would recommend having some element of your dynamic content provided on the server side, through SSI's or other methods, so our crawlers will have something to work with."

If that is over your head, it is over mine too -- I forwarded it on to the software developers and coders for my site to work on.

However, I found a short term fix that appears within google's guidelines. I used section targeting to eliminate stuff inappropriate to the site (particularily caused by the password login portion of the non-dynamic page), and then added some appropriate text focusing on the relevant theme of the site in the non-dynamic section, and again used section targeting to emphasise it.

This further message from Google support outlines some issues here: "during your page rewrite, it may be useful to know that our crawler prefers to derive meaning from complete sentences and paragraphs than from simple keyword repetition. In the meantime before your long range solution is implemented, if you'd like to also experiment with section targeting, instructions can be found at ....(specif URL for google canm be found at their website.)

The weakness with this fix is that while the ads served are much more relevant, they do not get all the richness that would be possible if parts of the site that are dynamic could be reviewed for context. However, I'd say it has solved 80 per cent of the problem.
