Can we have Yahoo and Google ads on the same page. Does doing it violate TOS of any of the two. Has somebody done that. If so, what is the impact of that.

yea as far as i know AdSense TOS dont allow any other contextual based Ads on same page having AdSense code
either u can use a php code which will trigger either code each time page is viewed by anyone. so that at any given time, you will have either Yahoo ad code or the AdSense code.

No, the Google TOS forbids you to use any other contextual advertising program on the same page as AdSense.

The two replies are contradicting.

The two replies both say the same thing - its against the adsense TOS.

Just so you get this clear:

1. You cannot have Adsense and YPN appearing on the page at the same time.

2. You can rotate the ads to offer Adsense or YPN but not together.

hehe
thats rite
you cant display both at same time

either it should show yahoo or the google.

that can be achieved by using some php script. you need to search on that.
none of them has any problem if you show google ad at one time and yahoo ad at other time.
it should now appear at same time.
moreover, why not ask the AdSense Support :) they will make it clear

So I can show Google on my index pages(where it does well) and YPN on my second tier pages (here Google dosen't do so well)?

I have 2 index pages that generate 1/3 of the revenue each and 12 second level pages that bring 1/3.

Would anyone recommend trying that?

YPN has been after me, calling me on the phone and asking that I put their code up. They say they don't have a site like mine in the beta and they want to test it but I am neverous about diverting the traffic. (up to $100 per day)

He didn't say no. He said read the TOS.

They can't be displayed on web pages that also contain competing ads.

I always "ass sumed" (of course I am referring to myself) that that was a collective "web pages" not in singular fashion. I would hate to make a grey area mistake and get shut down.

Is it worthwhile to try the split? Google in front YPN in back? I would "ass sume" that would give me a larger spread of ad inventory and create more click interest for the user.

I accidentally ran both on one of my pages for a couple months. Scared the hell out of me when I noticed it, and I changed it immediately. But, nothing seems to have happened. I guess I got lucky.

Are you running them both on seperate pages?

What are your results? I just want to be sure before I do all the work.

G_Smitty

Thanks that was good, directly from the mouth of the AdsenseAdvisor! I am just looking for some positive re-afformation here before I fly off willy-nilly and do this.

I ask questions first! i am not to do a thing crazed like utter ppl n' get banned (god, it hurts to think like that how do they do it? That will affect your mind after a while)

Kensu: I have Yahoo ads on certain pages of one site where the other pages have Adsense. Through channels, I learned that these pages weren't doing well with Adsense, so I switched them to YPN.

One thing to be careful of: if you have more than one Adsense block on your page, DO NOT use YPN as your "alt ad url." This is because all of the ad blocks on the page might not need to show the alt ad at the same time, so you could end up with one adsense and two YPN's. (If that makes any sense.)

Thanks JollyK,

Just what I was looking for a real life application of the two before I talk myself into this. I also prefer not to have all my eggs in one basket.

I freelance and work 3 day a week so I have been at my site at all hours and all days and don't run out of ads.(at least with Google) So I have no alt ad sub ad spec.

Do the YPN ads do well around the clock or do they run out?

Ok, the deed is done.

I took the lower performing half of my second tier pages and put YPN on them (6 of 12). I had a feeling they were draging the rest of the pages down due to high pageviews and low clicks. I just think the goodle ads were burning-out the visitors by repetition(I have 3 ad units and a link unit arranged around the downloads in a box fashion) Targeting was kind of so-so on those pages anyway.

Keep y'all posted on the results.

I just don't understand the concept of switching some pages entirely to YPN. Why not test for US visitors? Give whatever percentage of US visitors to YPN vs. AdSense. And then, importantly, send all international visitors to AdSense.

By switching 100% to YPN, you are forgoing all income from international visitors, right? Maybe you all have few international visitors, but I think you are loosing money by not doing this.

Ya, don't forget about filtering out those foreign visitors!

I'm currently sending Y! 25% of usa visitors and Adsense 75% usa + 100% foreign visitors.

Good point, I am just starting to study the Y interface in depth.

Most of my traffic is US, 90%. I can tell you that from my previous paid customers data. Oh, I did sell a disc or two in Sri-Lanka and Europe but mainly US, CA, UK & AU/NZ.

I am not stressing too much. Those pages were D E A D anyway so anything is an improvement.
