I have a non-English website. Getting about 1000 page impressions a day. But my page ctr is very low, I have placed google ads on my pages with the usual strategies we see on every adsense forum but I am still getting very few clicks. My site is new and mostly I advertised it by recommending it on several forums.
Google hasn't indexed my pages and most of my visitors are from the forums. Can this be a reason I am getting very low CTR's? I also don't always have relevant ads really, is this a matter of time or am I cursed or smt? :)
1) language. I have a site in English and a parallel one in German and the CTR of the German page is about 1/3rd of the English one. I just began accepting that English sites probably perform best (my experience, would be grateful to hear from others about comparing CTRs in different languages)
2) bad targeting always certainly leads to bad CTR. Try to tweak your page content to make the ads more targeted.
I'm experimenting with Spanish now myself but no results are in yet. I expect success with it because the products do well in the Hispanic market, I'm still working on getting the traffic though.
On the other hand it seems like the PPC varies a lot from one country to another on specific searchs. Guess the competition is harder in the US, driving the PPC upwards. That's why I've made a site for the US-market just newly. Because my native tongue is only for the rare and odd, my next major site will surely be in (broken) english as well.
Oder villeicht sehr slechtes deutch :-)
