Low Earnings

Hi everybody,

I have a website with 12000 / 15000 visitors day and with this i obtain only from adsense:

CRT 0.5% / 0.6%
daily earning between 20/30 $

last month the average click cost was of 0.043!
last month i displayed in average 130000 daily pages

I have in the left an adsense banner 160*600
in the bottom 468*60
and a (468x15) links unit at the top between the section title.

i can't put 468*60 in the top because i have other ads contracted for this space.

Really i seem have a problem? The earning VS the quatity of visitor is very low...?

Do you have suggestion?

Perhaps you give the answer yourself.
A news website as in:
Earlier today president X visited the Y instute and stated that Z is an important issue for the nation?

What kind of ads do you expect to display on a news website? To what extend do you think these ads would be targeted to what your visitors are interested in?

BTW, do you write the news content yourself? Or are they like (RSS) feeds? Cause in that case, Adsense is not very good in producing targeted ads...

Sites which provide information/reviews on products/services usually do well with Adsense

You could create a product review section and drive some of your traffic in that direction.

Your EPC is quiet good. I wish mine was as high as yours. Since you are making money with other ads as well, I don't think you are making a bad deal.

Yes i write the news, i don't use external source RSS

I think that with the quantity of visitors that i have, $30 by days is not high. I readed many post in this forum, and more i read them, more i think that $30 is nothing!

Maybe try a 336x250 large rectangle and blend the background colour in -- and put it right in the center of the content.

IMHO it sounds like you may actually have too many ads on the site. They are everywhere! Left is suppose to be for navigation through your own site...if people revisit often they know the left nav is ads and won't click, they become blinded.

1 ad box, blended inside content/article with possibly a Google keyword/text ad at the top left.

336x250 is an idea but i can't put in center in the content, i have more of 10k articles from a db, but it's an idea. Actually the most clicked channel is the left side.

I forgot to tell you a thing, my website is writted in ***FRENCH***... here is perhaps the problem too

Yes, maybe your problem is the French language. I have a site with parallel content in English and German and the English site performs many fold better than the German one. My personal belief is that English sites perform best. German and French (and maybe Spanish, Italian, etc..) perform not so well.

I had CTR of 0,3% at the beginning when I started AS. A lot more visitors than you.

A few weeks of work, I got it up to 1,1%. A month after that, a week or so f work I'm now up to 2%.

My advice: test, test an test. Daily. Lose the banner the bottom. Redesign your layout, put a leaderboard in the top. Use the 300x250 rectangle in top left. Try, try and keep trying, a 2%+ CTR is VERY doable ( like I did ), it just needs work and testing until you get it.

Finally i made some modification (design etc...) on my website. The earning don't really change, it's a problem of course but th bigger problem is the ads targetting i explain you i put:

in order to filtrate the things. I don't see any change with theses codes...

On my news website i only have travel, fly, hotel ads, in my news i never spoke on these subjects...

If i have always the same ads, the visitorwill don't click on them.

Any idea?

Very true. I have seen this on several of my sites for almost a year. Work on web sites towards people that are less computer savvy...
