That is very impressive Toldan!
Please tell us one tiny bit of your trade secrets!
How on earth did you do that?
Are you a one-man-show?
What kind of topic has your website?
BTW, if you're only 26, you might be on your way to a very early retirement!;-))) Do you live in a country where the cost of living is not too much?
Secret to a successful restaurant business is not marketing. It's:
Location, location, location.
Secret to a successful online business, is not a topic. It's:
Traffic, traffic, traffic. And more damn traffic!
Consider top adsenser in Canada, the guy is making $10,000 and he's paid 5-10 cents dating clicks. Quality does not count; it's quantity that counts.
His web design is worst than I ever saw. But again, he can serve tens of thousands clicks per day. So, who cares? He pockets $10,000/day. We are bunch of losers compared to him.
I also live in Canada and the cost of living here is same as in the USA. But, what can I do? I am not going to move to some second class or third class country just because they can live on $200/month.
My main traffic comes from cheap advertising, but I do also (sometimes) advertise on Adwords.
All in all, I don't spend more than $200/month on advertising.
I get lots of traffic from forums and other website, people who quote or reference my website. I don't get lots of traffic from Yahoo or Google search engines. Search engines don't like me and I am reluctant to do SEO, because I think it's agains the TOS. I don't wanna spam Google with relevant or irrelevant (repetitive) keywords just to drive traffic to my site.
Also, ad positioning. Put in in the most insulting locations. For example, visitors starts reading article from left to right. Put the ad on the left. Let visitors read your advertisement first and then he can read your article.
That way you can monetize visitors, otherwise they are just waste of bandwith.
I am still disapointed with my earnings. I feel that I deserve $10,000 or possibly more, like that top Canadian adsenser. So, today I decided to completely change my business model, my website, and everything.
I will be going public (aka: more detailed) about this in the next 2 weeks. Will keep you posted.
The March is the month where I am making some important decisions. And April will be the month when I will execute them. April will be "make it or break it" for me.
My goal for March: make a sustainable plan, finish web redevelopment, execute your plan in April.
My goal for April: $30,000 to $50,000.
correction: I feel that I deserve $10,000 A DAY or more like top Canadian adsenser... etc
One more thing:
It took me only 250,000 impressions to generate over $10,000 on my website.
How about that?
You guys talk about millions of impressioins that you serve. I think you don't know what you are doing. With that many impressions, I would be Donald Trump by now.
Again - either you are capable of running a business, or not. THat's the difference between success and terrible failure.

Different businesses succeed in different ways.
Some take the "high volume, low margin" approach, like supermarkets and general-interest Web portals or news/entertainment sites.
Some take the "low volume, high margin" approach, like stores that sell luxury goods or Web sites that cover highly commercial topics or reach highly desirable audiences.
And many successful businesses use a model that's somewhere between those two extremes.
It's a mistake to assume that your way is best, or that it's the only way to succeed.
I won't discuss earnings because I'd rather keep that confidential but adsense and ypn have been extremely kind to me, and enabled me to leave behind a legal career and focus on investing in and building other companies.
My age: 38
Sites: 1 (very recent)
Earnings: $3 since set up but I am optimizing my site, have added RSS and a blog and learning every thing I can from this forum.
PS. I am printing off some of the motivating posts in this thread and putting them on the wall next to my monitor.
I started with Adsense about a year ago, and on my first day I made a cool dollar right away! I was thrilled!
After 2 months I had made enough money to buy a full bag of groceries. I know that doesn't mean much to most of you, but it meant something substantial to me.
After an other 2 months I discovered the Adsense money could buy me a full bag of groceries every week.
I have had my ups and downs but right now Adsense money allows me to buy more groceries than I need.
So now I am aiming to pay my rent with the Adsense money!
Don't get me wrong, I have a job that pays more than reasonable, far more than I make with Adsense. But I hate my job. And the whole idea I can make money with something I really like (making websites is just plain fun!) is FANTASTIC!
Yes, it absolutely has motivated and encouraged me even more.
I am trying to imagine what kind of situation I will be in in 12 months time and know that it is going to be so much different to the situation I have right now and that is a very comforting thought.
I am not in a desperate situation but I am hoping that my Adsense earnings will help me to fulfil my dream of being able to live abroad.
Even if that is too ambitious I have been motivated enought to stay focussed and see where this journey will take me.
It is very very exciting.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your experiences.
False start. get a truly useful site online to attract visitors.
visitors don't give a damn about your misery. they don't click to solve your personal problems.
