Placing the cursor by default

Pardon my technical ignorance :) ...Is there a way to place the cursor by default in the adsense search box when the page loads without modifying the code?...

I know you can do this with javascript if the form element is named but its not the case for the adsense search code

Yes, it is possible but I would not recommend you to do so. Try some Java Script resources.

I can't think of any other way to do this outside of Javascript (by adding a 'name' attribute to the Google search form)

Since it doesn't have a name, I'm not so sure I would add it without contacting Google.
