$1.52 a Click! Am I in the Right Niche?

How much is the average click worth? I heard recently that it was 6-10c?

How much is the average click worth? I heard recently that it was 6-10c? Is this true? I just made $1.52 from one click today - have I fouind a worthwhile target niche (it's not quite an niche, you know!)

$30 in my first 3-4 months from a 100 page site, and nearly my 100th post on webmasterworld.com

Magic!

I don't think you can draw any conclusions from one click. I have a small, fairly focused site, but I have seen clicks worth a few cents, and clicks worth well over a dollar. My average is somewhere in the middle....

Over the course of the past 2 years, I've noticed that the ads on my site group themselves into three or four distinct subject areas, and I've made some guesses as to which is the most lucrative. But they are only guesses.

Give it some time.

I've got over $25 for one click (yes it's true)... however if I kept getting that I wouldn't be here today.

Thats pretty good for one click. If it's really true and you do get that much you should strongly start promoting your site so you get more visitors and clicks.

I have one site that very occasional will around $65 clicks. Actually happens a few times a month which is kinda nice as it doesn't get much traffic. I think its a tease as at the end of the month when you average everything out it usually goes back down to the average of a peanut per click.

That's what Google is making... they just forgot to adjust the pricing that one time. you make pennies and they make money...

Congrats on the $1.52 click.

Just remember to keep the click revenue in perspective. You can build a mesothelioma site and get one $50 click a day or you can build a site about pencils and get 100 clicks at $.50. Which is the better site? Whichever site is the easiest and fastest to make :).

Some people prefer to go after the massive amounts of traffic at low cpc since they feel it is less risky. Their revenue is not dependent on just 1 serp. Instead their revenue is generated by thousands of serps. So if they lose some rankings they still have decent revenue.

When looking at your personal site don't compare yourself with overall averages. You should look to compare yourself with data about your industry. For example compare yourself against the bid prices in Google Adwords. If Adwords is charging $2 for "widgets" and you only earn $.05 for your "widgets" page then your page is probably not targeted properly.

I've given up on my adsense account since I am in the process of revamping my website. Thanks to all you real webmasters, I realized I had a lot of work to do on it. Imagine my surprise a few days ago when I had a $1.80 click. Yippee. Overall my adsense account numbers are pitiful. But my website is new and I don't have any adsense links on my main pages, just search.

lol Why do people always assume Google is running off with all the money and leaving the publishers with a tiny percentage. I have read two different articles, one from NYTimes and one from Barrons and both mention revenue share as being divided roughly 80 publisher 20 google.

Regarding the main post, some niche's are hot, some are cold, and some bounce back and forth between the two. You have to measure the consistency of the price per clicks over a span of time to determine whether you're in a good niche or not.

You also have to take into consideration that a new advertiser may have came along to AdWords, made a mistake with their campaign because they weren't sure what they were doing, and you ended up with a nice price for one click.

In the last year, my ave has been about $0.85 per click. I sometimes get high values (although I've never noticed one more than about $3), and I sometimes get low ones...

$0.25 per click average for me. But my niche isn't really a big earner.

Well you could increase the value of each click by bidding on selected search terms yourself ;-)

The advice tends to be work on a site you enjoy developing rather than trying to cash in with adsense by chasing elusive keywords.

The high paying areas are fairly well known though and it can be an eye opener when you compare stats to people with sites in such areas.

I just got a $235.74 click - not in AdSense, but in the first affiliate programm where I am successfull.

Just got a personal telephone call from the chief of the affiliate program.

It's a share revenue program, where my first sell brought $235,74 sales commission.

I got a $2.03 click a couple of days ago in my hobby site. Since my clicks usually earn pennies I am really curious as to what the ad was.

When I first started a year ago I had 1 click at around $21 later in the day it went to 2 clicks at $23 dollars.

I wish that would happen more often...

I once had an affiliate program pay 30% of a $1,000 vacation package. Too bad they stopped doing it! :) Now I can only get $15.

That $235 click sounds like it was a comission on a big ticket item. Perhaps they led someone to a cruise line and they clicker bought a $5000 cruise.

I think the high value clicks are click dumps, once my earnings increased overnight by a very large amount.

With as little as most people get per click and what people are reporting for affiliate commissions, it seems we should focus on the affiliate sales and use AdSense as a secondary stream of income. If we can't get the affiliate sale, take the AdSense click.

Is this what really successful people are doing?
