But I just wanted to know how long your site had been online, and maybe how much you earn from it every month - from adsense.
I know the answers on this post won't help me at all, except it's a great way to stay motivated. :D
Feel free to answer even if your page has been online for 1 week, and you earn .50c / day ;)
My site has been online for 2 months, i'm making somewhere around $1.50 - $2.00/day :\
Site a - 3 years - $150 a month
Site b - 4 months - $3000 - $4000 a months
Couple more 1-4 months old sites that get about $50-$100 a month

I have 3 sites, one of them being around for 8 years and making 10 bucks a day. Not much money but basically no updates, so it's 'free' cash, day after day after day;-)
Person A may have had a site about "obscure green widgets" that has been online for 10 years, but only generates $.05/day. Person B may have put up a site last week about "sex sex sex" that generates hundreds of dollars a day. Too many variables to compare.
I don't feel I've maxed out my earnings. I feel I can get into the thousands a day if I work on it.
In hindsight, I really should have started a "lose weight through sex sex se#*$! while watching hot porn and consulting a mesothelioma attorney" site instead, but obscure green widgets were so HOT in 1993!
What can I say?
(On a serious note, I do have a 12-year-old site that makes about $10 a day. I have a 3-year-old site that makes the same. I had one site that made 500 bucks in the first month, but has been going steadily downhill and is now in the ... um ... maybe $50 a month range 'cause I never do anything with it.)
I am absolutely not taking advantage of the full money-making potential of these sites, but little by little, I add to them and increase the revenues. It's not bad for a hobby. :-)

Just opened a site that no one else had yet and a great domain name and it became a huge hit until today. Now i cant say what it is or anything. There are tons of sites like mine opening right now but oh well...i knew it was gonna happen one day.
You just have to find what's hot out there right now and make a site that will get your visitors back once they leave. Best audience: dumb teenagers!
I'm curious how you're doing so well after only 2 months?! are you in G or the other search engines already?

It has been improving ever so slightly, but I really can't wait till I'm out of the sandbox. I did some simulations a while back and they indicate that my traffic could grow as much as 100x once I'm out. If those prove correct, and the earnings grow proportionally (I can dream, right?), I can finally proceed to take over the world! :)
Interesting about the teenage audience. I assume you mean "dumb teen" because they click on ads as links... or is it because they just spend money on crazy services, etc?
If you mean they click on anything - have you been around long enough to be "smartpriced" yet?
I do feel that I've optimised the site for maximum effectiveness with adsense, and the reasons income varies are now all beyond my control. I can't control when and where web users search my keywords, I can't control when and what the advertisers are bidding. Therefore I simply ride the adsense roller coaster!
I can keep my content up to date, and try and keep my site at the top of the serps, and that's what I concentrate on. I do tinker with banners and placement occasionally, but no major changes.
As regards dumb teenagers, that doesn't work for me. My site is specifically aimed at a tight demographic group of men, and that's who is most likely to click the ads IMHO. The dumb teenager group tend to be college students doing research for assignments. However, rather than click the top link of the menu bar (FAQ) they scroll down the page, find the email me link and then ask me to do their project for them - bless!
In my case, I need to diversify out of adsense. I'm at #1 on my keyword on google.co.uk, so as soon as I can work out how to divert UK visitors to a UK page I'm gonna start selling advertising to UK businesses.

I think new internet users are great prospects so if your site caters to people who havent got much knowhow about the internet but they keep coming back to your site then your gona get them to click your ads and buy things witch will not trigger smart pricing. Just build a site they can trust and they will be loyal. Just my opinion but i would stay away from building a site that caters to very savy internet users. It's much easyer to make money from newbies than from Programmers, marketers or webmasters. They just ignore most ads.

Like one of you said, it's more difficult to generate adsense-money from webmasters, programmers etc.. I believe this is true, but what about in 10 years from now? Wouldn't we all be webmasters or programmers in one way or another?
Our children will know the internet 500% better than our parents do.. and their children will now the internet 1000% better than they do.. etc etc.. I don't think it's best to depend on "dumb teenagers", even though they are by far the biggest group surfing on the net today. But I do believe it's best to focus on people who are not as "into this" like newbies, or dumb oldies :)

I very much doubt your observations will be correct.
The fact is that many of the "kids" using the Net do so for the purpose they only want to use it for i.e. easy cribbing for homework/exams, e-mail, playing games, free music and videos.
I've seen this happen in my house, my girls are now 22 and 18 and they hardly ever use the Net now they have left full-time eduction, they don't want to know about it unless they're desperate to find a cheap holiday flight etc.
It's now a usable tool for them to pick up and put down when they feel like it however this does not mean they understand how to use it fully or "know it better".

Really? Where are your figures to back this up?
Does anyone really know the true figures since I would bet that whatever the results from the USA they would be different to the UK, Germany, India or China since their usage patterns are completely different?
Silver surfers were reckoned to be one of the largest groups since they had both the time and the money to use the Net to its full potential.

Some things never change.;) My site appeals mostly to women but it is also on a topic assigned for student papers from grade school through college. I finally built a page specifically for students and teachers telling them exactly where to find the information they need. I have it linked prominently from the homepage. It has cut 'do my paper for me' messages to practically zero.

-I really don't had any stat-figures, but I was not thinking I would have to back that up. I was untill you corrected me, certain that boys/girls from 12-18 was the largest group searching for "stuff" since they are growing up with the net. But of course, I can be wrong ;) However, the young people talk a lot more to each other about the "new cool things", they get to hear about what's happening a lot faster than grown ups do, since they spend more time together with friends than grown ups do, and the younger you are, the faster you learn, right?
So that was really the thoughts that made me write the "facts", though it really was an opinion...
But now I have to ask you, where are your figures when you say:

I'm sorry if I can't make things very clear.. I'm of course not here to try to make confusion of any kind,
and with this post I really didn't want to come out as the guy who knows most about which people uses the net the most.. I was simply trying to get some motivation to continue working on my site, which I one day hope will give me some extra cash. I'm trying really hard to put my sentences in the right way, and sometimes it's very difficult since the english grammar and language are none comparable to my own ;)
