Hi

I wanted to buy new website which was very cheap and i was talking to my friend about it in diffrent forum and than on call and he says its not worth buying new website because we cannot publish our adsense there if google have banned or cancelled the last owners adsense account.

In other words if google have cancelled the account for that website before for last owner than we couldnt go ahead and publish my adsense and google might cancel my account;

I really needs some expert suggestions on this because i have already paid some money for that website.

If the site was/is owned by someone who had Adsense cancelled, placing your own Adsense ads on it would be very risky...

Your friend is correct.

If the site was banned by Adsense, you cannot put adsense on it. It's a slightly bigger problem than that, since the only real way to know if it's been banned is to trust the owner. Adsense, appropriately, will not reveal information about its relationship with other sites.

Putting adsense on a previously banned site puts your entire adsense account at risk.

Do you have an adsense account already? if you do tell the owner of the site to put your adsense on it just to verify that it shows up and works. If it does then i guess its good to go.

Do what you can to get your money back. If it turns out that you get stuck with the domain, then either don't use it for anything or remember to never ever put adsense on it. Google will cancel your account, not just "might cancel".

Don't even think of trying your own adsense code on that site - too much to risk.

Best to just go find yourself a brand new never-ever-registered-before domain by searching at whois and creating your own content from scratch.

Google will cancel your account, not just "might cancel".

icedowl, can you please provide the source for that?

If the WHOIS has changed and the new site is fully compliant with Adsense TOS there is no reason why you can't add it to your account. I have, on numerous occassions. If you wish to be on the safe side you could always email Google informing them of what you've done.

In fact, I don't even see reason why WHOIS needs to change. From what you say I can get your Adsense account terminated simply by putting your publisher code on a suspect site. If I (or Y!) knock out a few hundred Adsense publishers each day it shouldn't take long for Google to sit up and take notice :)

trraju, apart from Google themselves who here do you believe is expert enough for you to risk your "bread and butter" a/c?

Well lets put it this way. You have done nothing wrong buying a domain name name. So a polite email to google asking if it is likely to cause your account issues won't do you any harm.

If this does cause a problem why not put other adverts on it. Perhaps then in the future - maybe 12 months you could ask again - or try another advertiser like google (but not google) if you get my drift.

OK now the problem is it worth writing google about it because emails are picked up by different "rep" from support centers and are those guys knowledgeable enough to answer all thease questions and what if one of them says its good to use if the website follows tos and what if different rep cancels my account?
:((

Who do you like to respond to you, Sergey Brin and Larry Page? Of course, the underlings at their support will answer you. And if you are confused with their responses, keep the emails

oddsod,
icedowl, can you please provide the source for that?

That is from reading many "I've been banned" posts in this very forum, many of which claimed that it was due to being associated with another previously banned site.

Do a search, you should find loads.

icedowl, I wonder how many of those posts were from people who didn't get banned ;)

People tend not to post just to say, "Hey, I didn't get banned yesterday!"

You can check if a website has been banned by Google.

There are web tools that will demonstrate what ads will show if you enter the domain name. If you enter a domain and get nothing, that means Google has banned that site.

Well, if the site has been banned: are you really sure it is worth buying it? Some sites get banned because of spam . That means that in a short time the PR of the site will sink.

Buying sites is seldom a good idea. Excepting the cases that you have been observing the site for a longer time or that you are paying someone to develope and market a new site.
