Wrestling website?

I doubt many people will know about this, but it's worth a try.

I'm thinking about making a website for wrestling news and results etc. and I was wondering if it is a high-paying or low-paying catergory. I'm just curious, because even if it is low I will make the site.

Also, if this has already been asked at some point, sorry, but I tried to search the site, but couldn't find any search facility... :(

If you're creating the site anyway, why not simply apply for AdSense after the site is finished and test the ads? It won't cost you anything, and the data will be more reliable than guesswork.

A website on wrestling is a great idea. There are a lot of websites on wrestling already, but there's always room for one more good one.

A "Where are they now" section would be cool!

Of course, you'll probably get hairspray ads on the Gorgeous George page and political ads in the Jesse Ventura section. :-)

The demand for a site like this might be a good idea, but like EFV says, it might be hard to identify an advertiser's needs.

Other affiliate sales could offset this, like selling memorabilia + vintage wrestling dvds/vhs.

The site could have a lot of evergreen content, like wrester's bios, etc, and a lot of updated stuff as well, like news, recent deaths, where are they now..etc..

The best (paying and niche-wise) Google ads in this niche might be something like exercise/diet supplements (because a lot of wrestling fans also work out), but the trick would be in building the pages so that the content would trigger these sorts of ads consistently.

Hazzy, I have a similar dilemma with my site. I am in a similar niche (but different sport) and have concern that the ads generated through the content may not be that lucrative. The key for me may be to think outside the box and come up with similar content ideas (like the previous mention of exercise/diet supplements for a wrestling site, but applicable to my sport).

Nevertheless, I would go with your idea of making the site "even if [the AdSense revenue] is low". If you have a passion for the sport, then it will come across in the content you deliver, and may generate some worthy, applicable targeting. If the clicks ensue, great; if not, you're still following through with something you enjoy, and that is something that cannot be measured in monetary terms (this is the reminder I tell myself as I deal with the dilemma of low-paying ads).

Sorry, I can't help myself...

Mr. Nanny VHS eBay ads on the Hulk Hogan page.

I have created the site, and it is all up and running. I have also signed up for Google Adsense, and it is displayed on every page.

I have been reading a few topics lately, and they are confusing me a bit. I get the impression that the adsense ads on big sites just display ads for the general theme for the site, and not for each different page...am I right? And is this usually benificial, or should I change it - if that's possible...if it even needs to be done :¦

So far, the site has been up and running since Saturday (although it was actually fully fuctional on Sunday afternoon), and I have had 11,000 hits (190 unique (if I remember rightly)), and have over 100 pages.

Anyway, the adsense went on the pages yesterday, and I havn't had any clicks yet (lol), and the ads are just starting to get relevent...I usually have at least one wrestling ad, but I'm still getting general ads and the charity ones.

Wish me luck :D lol
