I, unfortunatly live in a town that does not have mailboxes, so everything goes to a the post office box.
So I go there today and thier is a package delivery slip, says I have a parcel from Google. I go to the front desk to pick it up and the lady can't find it. This is a small two person P.O. She says it was filled out by so and so and gets him up front. Right off I can tell trouble's coming, the guy will not look me in the eye and starts acting all shifty like. He says that he doesn't remember anything from Google. The lady reminds him in front of me that his hand writing is on the delivery slip. He then says he saw a small box with Google on it but doesn't know what happened to it. He says this while looking at the floor, and then walks striaght out of the post office, gets in his car, and drives away!
I'm like #*$!.

Anyone else & was everyone suppos to get one?
The sucky thing is I was very excited about it, as I missed out on the clock last year and I like stuff with the G logo.
I know where this guy lives and am tempted to go kidnap one of his cows, which like to sleep in the middle of the road, and hold it hostage.
Only earners over a certain level were sent one--cutoff may have been $1,000/month.
If that's the case, someone stole mine too.

My advice: go back and meet the suspect at work and spell out the consequences if he doesn't own up to what he did. If the gift is gone/destroyed/whatever, make him pay you what you reckon it's worth.
She said maybe it went back to Google or perhaps I already picked it up and forgot. I told here I am still in possesion of the parcel notice slip, which they collect upon delivery, and why would they return a package so quickly? she became offended and walked away.
I yelled back to Mr shifty eyes and asked him if he remembered what color the package was, he said, in a mumbly tone, he remembered a box from google but could not remember the color of the box, then he proceded to act as if I was not thier. Jumping over the counter would have been a nice gift. I would think that if you could remember the name Google on a box, you would remember a white and polk a dot box. These peoples whole attitude is disgusting.
Before I lose it, I wrote to Google asking if thier was a way to find out if a package was returned, but I doubt they have it set up that way.
Does anyone know where I can get some type of tracking device? I think I'll mail myself a package.
That gives the perp a chance to "find" it (bring it from home) and save face. And you get your package.
And if it doesn't work, you go the official complaint route.
In fact this could far more serious than just regular theft. Interfering with the mails is a federal offence resulting in large fines and/or jail time. However I'm not sure if this applies to UPS as opposed to USPS deliveries.
I worked my way through college loading trucks at UPS. My fingerprints were taken the first day and I was informed that since UPS handled interstate commerce, any thefts would be investigated by the FBI.

You could tell the guy that if he doesn't find your package, you're going to file a formal complaint and he could lose his job - perhaps that'll motivate him.
I agree, stay calm and tell them what you "MAY" have to do (file complaint). To be honest, if he didn't already return it..he probably won't. Be careful though, if you know where this guy lives, he probably knows where you live too and theives don't like to be caught!
He should file report with the police and let them nail the guy ..and maybe ask for 5 minutes alone with him too ..

I would be tempted to go into the PO and ask for their names and mention that you are filing a report with both the police and the USPS, and that before do file the report you'll come back by the next day just to see if it's turned up.
The guy won't risk his job and a felony over one package, but you know what - if he's stolen one package, he's probably stolen others.
Then again, I'm jaded as I've already had my screaming match with the post office.

Got a call one day on my answering machine from a collection bureau and since I have no debts other than a mortgage, let alone past due debts, was completely debuddled. So I called them and it turns out I'm being dragged thru the mud for a Sears credit card that I made a charge on and paid off in full 6 months prior!
The rub was the check arrived just as $0.20 more interest was added, which 6 months later was $200 in late fees and penalties. I didn't think anything about not seeing Sears bills as it was paid off in full. Then they tell me that the bills had been being returned for 6 months as 'undeliverable' and I realized that we just got a new mailman 6 months prior.
What was the reason?
It appears due to a clerical error Sears whacked my condo number off my address and the new mail delivery person couldn't figure out that my last name, very unique, belonged to 1 of 12 units in a building although that 9 digit zip code thing is supposed to be unique.
Sigh.
The result was after screaming, shouting and yelling about getting lawyers to both Sears, for not calling when the first letter was returned as undeliverable, and the post master for hiring incompetents, the fiasco was erased from my credit file, they doubled my available credit and lowered the interest to some ridiculous amount as an apology, and we had a new mailman the next day.
US Mail, sleet or snow may not stop them but a missing condo number and all bets are off.

People are jumping on this guy like the op has absolute proof that he took the package.
So the guy didn't look you in the eye... Maybe he's shy or not quite all there mentally. Maybe he doesn't like being around people that are hopping mad and accusing him of stealing packages.
Maybe the package got bumped off a shelf into an outgoing mail bin and it's sitting at the regional sorting facility waiting to be returned to you any day now. Maybe it got returned to sender accidentally. Stranger things happen at post offices around the country all the time!
