Anyone sends google their website URL and ask them to review the site, so that google are aware of the site and happy with its standings.

Who does this? And who doesn’t, and why?

Google rep was the one who contacted me and arranged for a consultation via phone. I did not ask them to look at my site.

I guess you gave him your password and email address -for security purposes:-) On a serious note lads has anybody on here ever been contacted by google. I had an email from some dodgy company last week saying that they would like to advertise on my site and to click on link to set up their banner. Similar thing to adsense but some upstart company. Why would I want to leave google for them?

Nope. She's from Google alright.

We had problems setting the original phone consultation because of scheduling problems, but we finally talked. Had very good suggestions. She actually looked at my website and looked at pages that could still be improved. Am implementing her suggestions and results are good.

I know am not the only one who had received consultation invitation from Google reps (there were discussions here before). They do that - though I am not sure to whom they extend that kind of invitation. I'm in the UPS club.

And no - she did not ask for my password. Nor did we talk of my stats. We only talked about how to improve the Adsense position and design.

I got one of those as well. However, after looking around on Google for info on the URL, I found a number of people talking about it as a scam based in India and so that was that, no thanks.

The only other program I've signed up for besides AdSense is YPN. It's been a couple of months since I got accepted to YPN but I haven't used the account once yet - AdSense hasn't really given me a reason to.

I made this thread and asked this because I wanted to email google to tell them to look at my site, to see if they are happy with it all.

Is this normal/ok?

Or no one does that?

Thanks

I think the OP and elguapo are talking about two different things.

Oney52, Google has no procedure for people to get their sites approved in the way you suggest. What some of the responses are discussing is a service they have to help publishers improve their use of ads. They offer it to the better-earning publishers.

About a year ago when I have started Adsense; after 2-3 weeks Google mail me and told that my website is violating the TOS and asked to remove other contextual add and excessive or hidden keywords. Actually I am not violating the TOS intentionally; at that time I had very little knowledge about Adsense and TOS . I have made relevant changes and email to Google to review our sites. They replied after one day that "After reviewing I confirmed that your website in not violating the TOS now". Since that I am trying my best to strictly follow the TOS.

They do offer phone consultations. At least I'm always getting it offered when I log into my account. Never done it however. But why wouldn't they if they can make more money?

Why wouldn't they? Because they have limited staff. As far as I know, they do the optimization consultations for the larger publishers, because there is a more worthwhile return for Google on their staff time. If the spend an hour working with a publisher, and increase their monthly earnings by 10%, that's much more meaningful if the publisher is earning $5,000 monthly than if they are earning $50.

Consultations over TOS violations are a separate issue, and I really wouldn't call these consultations. "Warnings" might be a better word! They seem to tell you if they see a problem with a site that they like otherwise, rather than just kicking it out of the program.

Oney52 -

You are welcome to email your URL to adsense-support@google.com for review. If you're concerned about violating a specific policy, I actually recommend doing this proactively. It's always better to have some piece of mind. If you're interested in having an AdSense rep provide you with optimization tips, you might also want to do this.

However, there's no need to email us with your URL otherwise. When you add the AdSense ad code to your site, we automatically find it.

Hope that clarifies,

ASA
