Last month I reached $3,000. for one month.
I've been in Adsense for 16 months now and have been through the SP roller coaster. I hit $2,000 about ten months ago, and reaching 3K has been quite a challenge.
In fact, (and I hate to admit this) on December 31, at about 7:00 p.m. I was about $20.00 shy of reaching 3K, and no one was on the Internet due to the holiday. I actually did a full mailing to my mailing list hoping to bring in enough traffic to boost my numbers. Two hours, later, only 16 visits from the mailing. I had just about given up.
Anyway, when the day was over, I had hit $3,004. and change.
Whew!
Now, 4K in one month is the new target.
Thanks to all my AS buddies for all the help, advice, and wisdom posted here.
Buzliteyear, what traffic are you getting? Has it been growing for the last 16 months or is it mostly some ad/layout tweaking magic?
I run a niche site that currently gets about 70,000 unique visitors per month. It is kind of an online magazine for a certain industry, and it gives me a decent amount of room to write articles on various topics that can be related to the niche.
Yes, I have spent a lot of time tweaking and testing, but you have to be careful not to forget about building traffic. It's easy to get caught up in the testing and forget about everything else.
70,000 uniques per month is nothing compared to what some of the other guys and ladies here get, but the traffic is targeted, repeat, and loyal. When you get to the point that you are fully tweaked, the only other option is to increase visitors.
When you have reached the maximum level of visitors (or close to it), it's time to add a second site. The inventory of AdSense pages has to be constantly rising in order to keep the clicks and impressions rising.
I try and add a few pages per week and keep the content fresh, especially on the main, index page.
I know im pretty much fully optimized (get about 6% clickthrough site-wide, 3% in the forums and 10% on the main content areas) and i feel like im in a rut!
you mentioned

do you mean add a new site about a new topic? I know i have a long way to go in terms of visitors, since i'm not ranked for any of the good keywords in my niche and would get roughly 10x the amount of traffic if i were, but what kind of ideas do you have to forge ahead?
Is writing content pages with adsense your plan?
Thanks for your post..always nice to see someone succeeding with adsense :
p.s. i think we should revisit this thread next year at this time and see how we've done! :)
