Junst wondering.. What is a good lengt for an article? 200 words? 400 words? or more? Should you write it long and thereby satisfy SEs or short and satisfy readers? and what would the limit for what you can classify as an article be?

I agree you need to consider the kind of writing with the pyramid idea. For example it would be good for announcements of upcoming events and such for me.

It wouldn't work for me on most of my articles. In my case I am usually telling the story of something in history, I always try to make the first paragraph especially compelling.

I'm trying something new on these articles. I've put the first paragraph in bold and a very slightly larger font. I'm hoping it will help get people who are just surfing to at least read the first paragraph and I'm hopfully decide to read it all. I don't know how to tell if this is helping though. There are so many other variables.
