Google just turned me down for :
-Inappropriate language
We have searched the site - we cant find anything breaking the rules!
So anyways - where else should we look? Its an online web-based game with ALOT of visitors per month.
We want something simple and easy - so we just want to display ads at the top of the page. Who do you suggest? Were not sure how this whole advertising thing works - but i guess we want to be paid for how many impressions - as we get ALOT of impressions!
For other programs you could use, head over to the Advertising & Affiliate Programs forum [webmasterworld.com] since we just deal with AdSense in this one.
There are no "bad words" as it were - nothing at all which could cause offence - unless you think this is offensive :
"We sent 11901414 ships to attack Soul Harvester (3:1:1). They will arrive in 9 ticks"
There is a public forum attached to the site which is of-course moderated - but some people do slip through, we are not intending to host ads there - only on the main game site.
Having played on a couple of those games myself, I have to say that there is not much demand for those type of impressions. Selling the ads yourself would be your first choice. As a last resort you could join a banner exchange that lets you sell the impressions.
The problem is that an advertiser can expect dismal CTR for ads being shown on your site as people are there to play and will tune out all advertising. We are talking hundreds of pageviews per visitor here.
Surely there is some company that will allow us to display ads on the page? We are sure to get at least SOME money from it considering how many impressions we get?
I have looked at a few other people that host these games - so ive followed their ads and found valueclick and 247realmedia - any of these any good?
You need an ad network that is more for you. You can apply (and probably get accepted) to the following Advertising providers:
<snip>
But you will eventually have the problem of 0 click throughs. So, you may be kicked out after a few months if no one clicks on your ads.
Additionally, you can apply to CPC networks which would probably not have any problem with your site, but you will only be paid for every unique click-through:
<snip>
I can give you some other ad networks, but due to the large amout of impressions per day and little CTR, they would probably close your account within a week.
So, you have four options. One, place the banner in a better area where the user cannot miss the ad, and may click on the ad. Two, use a pop-up/under network(I.E. <snip>) and annoy your users once per visit. Three, use the extremely intrusive Intermercials like mail.com uses when the use logs in, and use a exit pop-under when the user logs out. This will may hurt you more due to the annoying intermercial ads, so it is not a great idea to use; but none the less its still an option. Four, switch to the CPC campaigns, and hope for the best.
Hope those leads help your site out.

I think LoanUniverse is right you would probably have a low ctr and get your account cancelled or will not generate very much, if any, income. How many unique visitors do you get?
As an alternative have you considered offering free email accounts to your visitors, IE user@yourdomain.com. It is relatively easy to set up and you can generate income from the ads. Most users dont mind ads with free email accounts. Seems to work for Yahoo.
That way you won't have any annoying ads on your site, only a login link on your homepage to check or signup for email. Also it acts as free advetising for your your site with all those email accounts.
