I read my WebmasterWorld morning newspaper, start at 7:30 am and finish at midnight, with occasional errands, motherly stuff, and housewifely duties. I have been on this schedule since Jan 2003.
The problem is, as I work on the sites, I get better ideas for content, layout, etc. so I'm always changing or fixing something.
I think it would be better if I could just focus on fixing one site, research it, get it linked, get it ranked, etc. and leave it alone. But this hasn't happen, I tend to hop around. I'm a bunny.
But, we too are always adding sites, adding to existing sites, and redecorating.
We did $26k with Adsense, alone, in 2005. That doesn't include other web revenue streams. We are now beginning to work with YPN, more recently. It is our hope to get YPN up to match Adsense in 2006. In our first partial month with YPN we are doing about $300 for one site. It is a start.
the question is, how much time do you spend in a day to add content to your site/sites or editing the content.
Shouldn't this question be in another forum? It isn't an AdSense question specifically.
(FWIW, I agree with esilou: My site existed long before AdSense did, and AdSense represents only a medium-sized slice of its revenues.)
Once you get your positioning and format down pretty well, Adsense takes very little time. Well, checking stats can use up a bit each day.
I am trying an additional adblock on a few pages right now. Adding that took maybe a couple hours to sort out formatting and rework the 40 pages so the ad would fit.
I do my whole site manually, one page at a time, so If I add the new adblock to the rest of my pages it would take about 15 - 20 hours. That's about what it took to add adlinks earlier this year.
Other than big changes like that, I spend more time here keeping up with forum news than messing with the Adsense on my site.
Answer:
When you try YPN and find it is paying you more than Adsense, then you quit trying to optimize the Adsense ads.
We are now in the phase of changing each site to try both ad servers. One we switched back to Adsense, one we kept on YPN. We work through the list. That is a time consuming process in itself.
After a year of testing adblocks, colors, and adlinks etc., it turns out that skyscrapers work best for my sites.
I don't mess with changing them anymore because it takes too long for the mediabot to come back, and for the ads to build history.
