I am developing a music directory site.. That will have links and text like..

"Download free music here burn cds and movies"

Would this be classifed as braking and Google rules and would I be banned?

Thanks

If the music is copyrighted and you have no rights over it, Google *may* deny you.

MP3 downloads are against TOS.

Wrong. You are not allowed to have search pages for

MP3, videos, newsgroup messages, pictures.

Search results tend to show materials with copyright problems.

But I see in the policy nothing against own MP3

The TOS says:-

In order to avoid associations with copyright claims, website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results.

Don't agree with you my freind. I don't read that sentence as saying it's OK to have MP3 on pages other than search pages. I read it as saying you can't have Google ads on an MP3 page - search or otherwise - period.

Type "copyright free mp3" in Google

Just the 2nd result shows AdSense

Well, because there is a site with MP3 and ads on, doesn't mean Google know about it or it conforms to the TOS. The only people that can really say for certain are Google themselves. If the OP's unclear then the only thing to do is email G and ask them to look at the page.

Doing the search on google UK there is a site at number 2, but I'm seeing a box with "Page cannot be displayed" in the right column where ads *might* have been.

Doing the same search on google.com, the site at number 2 does indeed have adsense as you say, but that fact doesnt mean to say that the site in question conforms to the TOS.

Thanks guys...

However I am not offering any kind of a material that is offended its more of a directory to other sites..

All I have is a site banner or logo, title of a site, and description..

I have sections on my site for example

Free music
(this page contains links to sites that offer free music like kazza and limewire)
Music stores
(this page contains links to sites that sell CD's like Amazon)
Lyrics
(this page has sites like lyrics.com)

I think you get my point... I dont have any actual DOWNLOAD music or videos just links to other sites with description what they have to offer..

I have emailed G but stuped enough I didn't add a link to the site :)

I hope that someone may know little more about this.

Thanks guys

Whoa, hold on there... so this means that I cannot display AdSense on a video page? I plan to have pages with video clips and Adsense on them.

Well said. In my opinion there are a lot of sites out there that do not conform to the AdSense TOS. Google just can’t or won’t go after them.
