Does your site cater to webmasters or AdSense publishers?
If so you might consider some other topics to put AdSense ads on and use your current site to generate revenue by putting your own ad space. Your page impressions are quite respectable.
Or you can try putting up "Your ad here" instead of adsense.

What is the subject of your website King?
It could be a few things wrong here.
--Adsense is having a hard time targetting the ads to the visitor.
--There is a small pool of advertisers for the topic of your site
Your visitors may be there to see information about the French Revolution and adsense is showing ads for hotels in France.
Where is the placement of your ads?
Have you seen the Adsense Heat Map?

There are other kinds of websites than forums or blogs...
Do you think the displayed ads are somehow "inviting".
Do you think the advertisers in your niche are commercial enterprises or perhpaps more like government agencies and such? It could make the difference in how the ads are written...
Are you blending the ads and using the heatmap?
I make $2000/day, over $800,000 a year.
One other thing that might help, if you have quite long articles, is to break them up over a few pages, which might make it easier for more relevent ads to be shown.
Also remember that Google looks at other parts of the page than text, like the menu, footer, anything in a sidebar, so perhaps adding a snippet there of an article about memorabilia or books or somthing related to an article would get more interesting ads.
Are you getting relevent ads, or are they off target?
I have to question your motives or truth behind those statements if you feel the need to draw that kind of attention to yourself. What kind of person just makes braggadocio statements like that? Kim Il Jong?
I mean, are you trying to sell one of those get rich quick on adsense ebooks?
What's the hook here? If you are trying to establish a reputation here, you have to earn it the hard way.

With 9 kids he'd need every penny.
It will also draw alot of students, and they will NOT pay for history information, unless they absolutely have to.
I say this from experience. We have a couple "history of ... " pages within our network. They got no revenue at all from Adsense.
I advise Fast Click, they have those interactive banners that are a big hit with students, and you will get by impressions. It will work if you choose your ads carefully, and keep the CTR up.

Your clickthrough rate is horrible. See if you can get it up to at least 2 or 3 percent. That should look much better.

This is mostly off a forum with 6 million page views monthly
However, I would like to add that overall CTR doesn't mean so much. You could do very well and have a great income from a few pages with high CTR and a fair amount of clicks. Overall CTR could be low because of some other pages that have a huge amount of page impressions but low CTR. But in the end you might make a decent buck. I would advise to somehow improve CTR of your poor performing pages, and if that's not possible I would remove the Adsense code from pages that bring down your overall CTR and generate little or no income at the same time. The Adsense algo will "punish" you (lower EPC) for having pages that just serve ads but do not generate clicks and/or conversions.
