I tried to login into AdSense with the old login information and it still worked, and didn't even ask to convert it. It just worked as it usually works.
The reason I have two different emails for AdWords and AdSense is because back in the day Google didn't allow to have both accounts to be with the same email address. It specifically asked for a separate email address.
So it tried logging in into AdSense with the main Google account (Gmail) and it also worked. The screen asked to confirm my personal information (address, phone, etc...), to make sure it was up to date. I confirmed the form and got the following message:
Thank you for your interest in Google AdSense. Your application has now been submitted. We'll review your application, check that your site meets our program policies, and follow up with you by email in 1 - 2 days.
But I alrady have an account. I think there was some kind of error. I don't want to have two accounts.
I sent a note to Google, but they haven't replied to me yet.
I assumer you don't need to convert your account if AdSense is registered under a gmail address. My account was registered under a 3rd party email account back in the day when google didn't have a centralized login system. The only logins were necessary were for AdWords and then later on for AdSense.
