Same ad in two ad units

Not a CPM ad

I saw two ad units showing the same ad in my site. They were definetly not CPM ads because the font size, color, and format were of normal CPC ads. Is it possible that there is an option to put ads in more than one ad unit in adwords or was it because the CPM ad looked like a CPC ad?

Hi capefeare -

As you know, this shouldn't be happening (unless the ads are CPM). Can you send me your URL via sticky mail? I'd be happy to take a look to see what's going on.

I often encounter the same thing happening and thought that was considered normal.

Something to do with using DIVs for placement?

The most common reason this might happen is if your website uses frames. If the code is located in two separate frames, it's possible that the same ad might appear twice because our crawlers see these as two separate pages and choose ads accordingly.

A situation like this - where the same Google ad appears in two frames on the same page - is prohibited by our program policies and is referred to as 'double-serving'. Therefore, we ask that all AdSense ad code be placed in the same frame when using AdSense.

If your site does not use frames, though, I'd have to see the specific site to figure out why this is happening. If you do not feel comfortable sticky mailing me your URL, you can also email adsense-support@google.com and a representative will investigate further.

BTW, on one of my tight-niche sites, I've frequently seen two ads at the same time that *look* like they're the same ad, but they're not. Same title, almost exactly the same description, different advertiser...

So maybe that's what you saw?

1) Take foot. 2) Plant firmly in mouth.

I just went to my site and I'm seeing a truly duplicate ad right now!

ASA: I am stickying you my URL plus the location of a screen grab I just made of the condition.

I get the same ads appearing in different ad blocks on the same page now and then - no frames ever, anyplace.

I don't use frames and I see the same ads from the same advertiser on the same page somewhat frequently.

I've seen this frequently. It has been happening since the very first day that we were allowed to display more than one adblock on a page. They have always been true duplicates.

No frames here either.

I have seen this many times on my sites and I never used frames. ASA, are you saying that we are in violation because of this?

Have seen this before...checked the code and not serving in frames, Although officially against the tOS how can google hold us responsible for their screw up?

Hello everyone,
I've seen this too and only recently. I'm kind of glad to see it is common, or is it?

Just went on my site to a page with two ad units. One refresh, and there was duplicate ads (same title, text, url). The other in medium rectangle, the other in leaderboard. No frames or the such.

I took a screenshot, if someone needs it send me a message.

I'm refreshing the page and the same duplicate ads show almost each time.
