This was my lowest paying day in months. What did I change? I put add links right next to ladder text adds I had.

Wholly molly. I am devastated.

impressions 23,000 +
clicks 60+
eCPM $0.08 +
Earnings $2.00 +

I get 300 plus clicks from 3000 impressions.
So you might like to do a little optimising?
But with 60 clicks I would get around 25 dollars.

So at a guess you are in a low paying field, maybe a forum, or sight with lots of page views per visitor, with not very optimised ads? Have you seen googles heat map?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld yosaid.

This was my lowest paying day in months.

What's your average?

I put add links right next to ladder text adds I had.

I'm not too sure what you mean. Adlinks next to a skyscraper?

Left or right?

This is unusual.

Even my site for a movie, which I abandoned March 2005 had about 4 times better eCPM.

Yes this is a forum.

I got an offer from Yahoo YPN and I am still thinking whether to dumb Adsense and go with YPN.

Adsense is dissapointing. I am only making 165 - 171 dollar per month. But if this new trend continues, I will barely make $60/month.

I can say this....being the lowest paying day and all, have you forgotten it is the weekend and a holiday weekend to boot as well as the end of the month when a lot of adword advertisers turn off their accounts for a day or two or just plain run out of monthly ad money?

This weekend hit me pretty hard too and this has been a fantastic month for me. This is a roller coaster business and if you are not prepared for the ride then don't buy your ticket. :)

yosaid,

When it comes to forums, one needs to lessen ad impressions by not displaying the ads to logged in users (they move back and forth via the various boards and create lots of impressions and hardly any clicks ( if at all). Smart pricing then kicks in and cut your pey per click to almost nothing.)

1. make sure that your forum is SE friendly (no session ids etc in urls)

2. Don't show the ads to logged in users. Guests only.

The above two points can work wonders and increase your forum earnings 1000 folds if done properly.

Enjoy!
