Google Discover has been down for me since the end of April.

Don't take it personally, because Google is destroying most of us. And in the US, they added AI summaries to Discover to take even more traffic. [techcrunch.com...]

g is coming for the three figure sites, too. They need all the dollars they can get. Lawyers and AI are EXPENSIVE. Electrical bills are racking up, so are taxes by nation/states, monopoly/antitrust, way too many employees sipping lattes...
g needs the money more than we do! Have a heart! g is SUFFERING right now!
</satire-if-not-obvious>
g's original mission statement was "index the world's information". That morphed into "control the world's information" and NOW means: "Own The World's Information."

Wasn't it Google that made it possible for you to create a 6 figure website in the first place?

@Nordland - His hard work made him those six figures and Google destroyed it.

No. He relied too much on one traffic source, he should have differentiated his traffic.

I agree never depend on one traffic source. However, Google was a monopoly for many years (no longer is) and if Google did not exist there were at one time a bunch of search engine alternatives. So they would have made it possible to create a 6 figure website. I would give no credit to Google.

This is what I said to a local successful shop that started up inside a mall, he was making 6 figures than the mall wanted higher and higher rents for smaller and smaller space till his profits were all gone.
He was of course not happy about it and I said, "Dude, wasn't it the mall that made it possible for you to create a 6 figure shop in the first place? It's the malls foot fall, not your foot fall!" I told him to diversify and move to another location, he did but sadly he went bust because it was the mall everyone was using..... A few years later the mall priced every other shop out of the mall and when there where only a few shops left in the mall the mall itself also went bust because their weren't enough shops to make the visit worthwhile!
I blame the shops in the mall for the downfall of the mall, they should have paid more to the mall for less and diversified harder!

Those saying you need to diversify traffic are only partly right.
We all know nothing is as powerful as Discover. Facebook does not come close. It also depends on what platforms your target audience is on.
Fact is, many websites rely on Discover/GNews.

There is no traffic diversification when Google controls 90% of info discovery.

Agree completely, please don't take my reply above as anything other than my very dry (possibly sick) sense of sarcastic humor!

Humor when folks are losing income is difficult.
Then again, dependency on a single source IS kind of hilarious!*
*a typo changed hilarious to kilarious---fortunately I caught that before sending. Sheesh! Freudian or what?
