Average position improves in Search Console but not in traffic

Has anyone else also see improving of the average position in Search Console but no traffic improvement? In the last few days my average position went from around 29 to 16 but not really change in traffic. So I am wondering if this is an error.

Even sites that 'rank' as #3 in serps are almost invisible due to the AI Overviews that are on top of the results. Many others have noticed that "better" ranking causes little or no traffic increase. It isn't just you that has noticed, they discuss it every day in the Serps thread: [webmasterworld.com...]

I've also noticed a significant boost in GSC average positions in the last few days, but I can't help wondering if it has more to do with a change in reporting or methodology (or maybe just a bug) than with an actual change in rankings.
