I have been trying to access my GSC account for a few days now and I don't know why I don't trust it and it asks me for the backup account, but I don't remember it. I consider this account as lost.

What I want to know is what steps should I follow to tell GSC “from now on this is the valid account, the other one is no longer valid”.

I guess I should ask for the property again and re-upload everything?

Google usually expects you to use your primary login and to have a backup/alternate email "just in case". It is still only one account but they expect you to keep both accounts up to date. If you have no idea what account you entered as an alternate, it should show up when you log into your 'basic' Google account. With the same email and password you have on file with Google, no problem. If an email you entered in the past is no longer a contact account you can change it, but they may likely expect you to know what account it is.

I am not sure what this part means -

what property would you upload?

If you can't login to your Google account, then it could mean a lot more work. Record keeping is important with anything Google.

Google asked me for the backup account, but the one I thought it was is not.
Therefore I consider lost the possibility to continue using the GSC account where I have the ownership of my site.

My doubt now is how to continue, since all changes I make on my site or upload sitemaps, view data ... well everything that involves GSC would be lost.

When you said “upload” did you mean to say “submit”? I can’t remember anything getting uploaded for gsc, except for that tiny little validation file (the one called google-long-string-of-hexademicals.html), and even there I think there are some alternatives.

Come to think of it, what happens if you try to create a new GSC account for a property that is already associated with GSC? I'm sure someone has tried it, intentionally or otherwise. (Here “you” means the general WebmasterWorld readership, not OP.)

I recently had a similar issue and believe it's from a Chrome update and the way Chrome has a separate login from Services. In my case, Chrome the browser was logged in through the main Google account I had for several years, but when I used Google services, I logged in to my business account versus the personal one tied to the Chrome browser.

Have you checked to assure the Chrome Browser and your Google Services account are the same when logged in?
