I have been wondering whether to publish a press release, because the press release only has nofollow links or even no links. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

A few years ago I hired a PR specialist to promote our capabilities. over a period of 6 months they achieved 65 published articles for us, many of these were online, with inward links to our website. Looking back at various campaigns I have done this one was definitely good value for money.

Was the press release published on blog type sites or a PR news wire?
There are some news wires with good reputation that feed news outlets but even their ranking has dropped over the years. Costly but still better than posting on "paid listing sites".

Google does not recommend using Press Release sites for SEO. Instead, focus on other mediums like social networking sites, influential marketing, and guest posts.

Are news sites considered to be "press release" sites?

If its really News Worthy, then pay for the Press Release with a business wire. Because editors will pick it up and publish in focused publications. They might even change the wording and hence you get links in authority publications related to your industry,. Press Releases can never hurt, but can help..

Not everyone can write a press release. Best is if it is written by a journalist (tech journalist if technical) and has a professionally taken product photo. The editor concerned should feel they can just insert the release directly into their publication with no further work required.
