Google Discover Traffic Disappeared

Hello, for the first time in 2020, our Google Discover Traffic dropped to zero and has not recovered since.

It happened beginning of July. Complete zero traffic: [imgur.com...]

Any idea why?

Most likely it is because of the ongoing disaster that Google still calls "Updates" or "Spam Updates".https://status.search.google.com/products/rGHU1u87FJnkP6W2GwMi/history

A lot of websites have been hit and continue to be hit, just Google it or perhaps Bing it...

On the rare chance that it is not related to the updates, start to backtrack if you or any of your staff members made any big changes to your websites core, links etc. Go to your server/site logs and see if you see increased errors or anything unusual.

If we don’t have security or manual alerts in Google search console, how can we diagnose and fix this? Let’s say we have been hit by this update… how can we recover from it?

Unfortunately, I don't think anybody can give you a clear answer. It's believed that the next core update expected in the coming weeks should fix this, but you never now with Google

Were you getting regular traffic from Discover prior to that?

Yes. Since 2020 we used to get in average 30000 to 50000 visitors per day by Discover
