Google Admits To Overcharging For Adwords

How many billions do they owe their advertisers?

During their recent trial Google employees admitted to 'adjusting' bids on Adwords, which resulted in them making a lot more money at the expense of their customers, who were over-paying for their clicks. The US Government sued them and rather than have it go to trial (which coincidentally could have meant a lot of publicity) They sent a cheque for three times the sum claimed, saying that that should be the end of the matter.

Now then: what about the millions of other customers whose bills they 'adjusted' in the same way? Will their cheques be in the post perhaps?

You can see a copy of the alleged cheque here: [thebignewsletter.com ]

Google also uses contracts that specify arbitration only and prohibits class-action suits

The law isn't fair when you live under a dictatorship or a monopoly.

The profit margin on these obfuscated tactics that cheat advertisers must be huge. The problem is in making it evident, and Google knows that, knowingly profits and exploits this.

We're trying to get google to sue us for our last unpaid invoice, all their arbitration clauses go out the window. The list of documents/information we are going to subpoena for discovery is ready to go. It is disputed debt so if they send it to a collection company we can initiate a suit. We've already sent them notice/demands for records preservation so they know what we are doing but maybe we'll get lucky and they'll get too greedy.

I don't recall ever seeing mention of class-action suits being prohibited. In any case how can that stand up in a real court of law?

It's nice to see the government is starting to put the screws to this company. When I sold my last company I was happy to be rid of Google. I started another similar company a few years later and noticed Google causing me problems with their ad system even before I spent a dime. I would make guaranteed cash but not worth the trouble. I decided to abandon my idea even though I spent 6 months on it and start something that does not depend on Google. So nice to just be creative without having to deal with Google's ego.
