Does Google Search Console (GSC) need an upgrade?

Do you think GSC could be improved, and if so, what would you like to see done?

For me, I would like to see better alignments to the metrics associated with the HCU updates to inform webmasters on search quality standards.

Since Google has almost total search dominance I feel it would not be a threat to them, and would allow them to drive better quality among webmasters. Isn’t that what everyone wants?

What are your thoughts and ideas?

After seeing what they have done to GA4, GSC doesn't need any upgrades.

I think the main mistake we/many make is to see Google as one entity. However, most (if not all) of their engineers that built the Algorithm and actually knew what they were doing, either retired or left.

A new GSC will most certainly will be a downgrade from what it is right now.

Ya, Analytics is a shell of its former self. Googs must've realized the cost of running datacenters for the next decade was getting astronomical.

If they revamped GSC, it would probably end up being a single thumbs-up or thumbs-down icon in the middle of the page making up the entirety of your site report.

Upgrades? We don't need no steekin' upgrades! Every upgrade since year one has been worse than the one preceding. Please don't ask for it, you just might get it!

Besides, g does not believe in true webmaster transparency, that's what keeps the magic box pumping away.

Google Search Console (GSC) is regularly updated by Google to enhance its functionality, usability, and performance. Users often benefit from these upgrades, which may include new features, improved data accuracy, and enhanced reporting capabilities. However, whether an individual user perceives a need for an upgrade depends on their specific requirements and preferences. Generally, staying informed about GSC updates and implementing them as needed can help users make the most of the platform's capabilities.

Google has "upgraded" GSC a number of times over the years, almost always making it less helpful.

How do we implement GSC updates? Whatever they update, that is the only interface you can use. Are there options?

Bing Webmaster tools lets you see CTR by position, which is incredibly useful. I don't think the Search Console's interface is bad, but it could be a lot more insightful.

Re the OP, do you think that GSC could communicate it's metrics and therefore strengthen it's guidance better on HCU/core update algorithm components?
