Hi All! G has usually kept between 100K - 250K of my pages in its index. In November the number of indexed pages has been gradually increasing and over this past weekend exceeded 600K. Over past several months I implemented some updates to the way content is presented, so wondering if the increase in the number of indexed pages has to do with what I did, or there are some general trends or updates in G's algorithms that lead to this. Has anyone else observed similar increases?

Yes. I have always had between 80-90K indexed, but at the end of October that jumped to 1.1 million. Was not sure the reason.

Yes 10/21 there was a jump in indexed pages. I believe it's rather Google Search Console giving more or less accurate numbers in reporting, and not an actual increase in indexed pages.

Google Services that were typically fairly reliable have been horrible the last 18months or so. Plenty of threads about this. Right now I'm just watching Google Ad Manager for now 48+ hours under reporting ad impressions. Sigh sorry...just can't rely on any google services anymore from analytics, ad manager, search console, and search results. Really wish they focussed again on what matters.

I saw a gradual decrease in index pages beginning in October, and then a steep decline starting in mid-December. I've heard of other sites seeing the opposite, like yours. Have any theories?

Hi! Thanks for sharing your experiences. There may be some variance between Search console and actual number of pages in the index, but the general trend was number of pages nearly tripling between October - November, then rolling back a bit, then coming back up a bit. Now about 2.5 times of pre-October times. Still curious about possible reasons. The increase in the number of indexed pages seems to have more positive effect on my traffic than sworking my way up in the SERPs, so also curious whether this is a temporary effect or it will be more long term.
