How do you think Google differs from Yandex's leaked algo?

In case you haven't heard, Google's competitor Yandex had their secret formula leaked. It showed the specific 1922 ranking factors behind the Yandex search. [webmasterworld.com...]

Obviously, Google is using its own recipe that probably has extra things & ignores other things, and applies different weights to certain pieces. What do you think are the big differences for Google? Which part of Yandex's secret formula do you feel is likely very similar to Google?

Certainly not its comprehension of the English language. A few years ago Yandex's English was ok / good but these days it returns mostly pointless results. My English sites used to rank well however once they disappeared off their SERPs I had them translated into Russian on .ru, now they all rank well again ... YMMV!

Maybe some of it for spam signals. The Yandex leak is limited in usefulness because the data the code relies on isn't part of the leak, nor the discussions on algo implementations and the context of them.

I doubt there's much if any there that hasn't been speculated by the SEO crowd anyway.

All the same, apart from Gigablast this is perhaps the 2nd time some software that has/had a multi-billion document index is available in the public domain. Having alternate indexes are pretty rare nowadays, especially in the West though the meta search engines have some traction.

The grim reality is Google has an overwhelming market share and most people looking at the leak are just thinking how it applies to milking Google and how they can capitalise on that.
