Here comes my situation: I am trying to rank in the top 5 for my gaming website. Currently, one of my top pages is ranking between 10-20. It keeps fluctuating daily.

I have tried everything from fixing internal linking to backlinks. By the way, I optimized content too, and nothing has worked out so far.

The competition is very stiff; the site is legit, no spam at all. Niche is Gaming News, guides, etc.

In the past, I was ranking in the top 5 for the same page like a year back, but then I got hit with the last year's Nov update. It recovered automatically in the top 15 but never entered the top 10.

Any Tips? I Badly need one here.

Tips? It sounds as though you're doing everything more or less correct therefore outside of having something totally unique there's not much more you can actually do since you do admit "The competition is very stiff;" .

These days I see mostly the same sites stuck to the top 3 positions with 4 to 10 occasionally rotating, 11 to 20 rotate on a more regular basis and from 21+ it's yo-yo time.

All of us here know there are many sites / pages that deserve much higher rankings than G gives them yet no matter what those site owners do they cannot get better rankings for some completely unknown G algo tweak.

Outside of throwing lots of ad money to G there is no easy solution other than experimentation however even then you have to allow maybe 2-3 months to see if it had any effect.
