Google SERPs Adds Site Information (beta)

Google is now adding more information to the SERPs about a site, and a new menu icon brings up additional information about the link. A Wikipedia description of the site shows additional information, but if there's no Wikipedia entry the additional information could include site first crawls, etc.
This is rolling out today in English and in the U.S., on desktop, mobile web, and Google App on Android.

No user will take the time to do that. Unless they make it more ubiquitous to the experience, it will be dead meat in months, if not weeks.

This feels like an extension of the "fact checking" stuff that doesn't really fact check, it decides what to promote and bury. For the good of the internet I Hope I'm wrong.

It might be a step to deal with the EU's ambition to force big internet tech companies to reveal their algorithms, pretending to show transparency, might avoid Google having to reveal its algorithms.
