Google has a new crawl stats report in Search Console with some interesting features.

  • Total number of requests grouped by response code, crawled file type, crawl purpose, and Googlebot type.
  • Detailed information on host status
  • URL examples to show where in your site requests occurred
  • Comprehensive summary for properties with multiple hosts and support for domain properties

  • [developers.google.com...]

Very interesting the new analysis. It's under the SETTINGS now.

You can see how often your new pages are found under the Discovery section, if the server has some issues with Bot or if the pages have a 404 or other status codes.

LOL ... and Google uses the so-called "Unknown Failed Requests" category to make up the difference in their crawl percentage deficits.
Of course you can't access these so-called "Unknown Failed Requests" probably because there really aren't any.

"Unknown Failed Requests" is code talk for, "Our Phone Bot Is Good, But Not Really That Good"

Actual server logs, coupled with the cPanel Awstats still does a much better job of identifying various certain anomalies and errors.

Strange place to put it, it's not obvious. I would have thought that it should be added to "coverage". It is a big improvement from the old report.
