Product Reviews in different countries

Hey all!

We are about to translate our Online Shop from English into German (and in the future maybe also into other languages). The shop is online since ten years and there are thousands of product reviews which are obviously in English.

How to deal with those product reviews? Is it a problem to keep product reviews in English n the German product pages? Or is it better to disable them (would also delete the stars from SERPs).

Thanks! :)

Hi thowest, when you say "reviews" do you mean customer comments? or detailed product features discussing features and benefits?

If customer comments I would not translate them, if they were given in English they should stay in English.

If the latter, you have to ask yourself how dedicated you are to winning business in Germany? If you translated a German site into English but left the product reviews in German, what do you think a US prospective customer would think?

What sort of question is this?
If you are considering translating "Real"reviews, what's stopping u from changing some negative to positive or write an extra thousand positive reviews?
Reviews belong to the customers, visitors. Noone should touch them.

Of course it's not a problem, I personally know of many UK residents who buy from German websites for at least 15+ years mostly because they've been, for whatever reason, unable to source in the UK.

Never, ever change posts, it woul be the fastest way to destroy your business.
