Google's Android and iOS app now has an algorithmic news feed which shows more of your interests the more it's used. The AI comes into play to learn more about your patterns, and to deliver more of those results.
That should be interesting, especially when a user might be looking for one thing, and then' later, have no interest and be swamped by the AI's actions.
The SERPs get a makeover, too.
To help you keep up with exactly what you care about, you’ll now be able to follow topics, right from Search results. Look out for a new “Follow” button next to certain types of search results—including movies, sports teams, your favorite bands or music artists, famous people, and more. A quick tap of the the follow button and you’ll start getting updates and stories about that topic in your feed.

Clearly, unless you've been under a rock for the last few years, it's all about mobile.
There could be an opportunity for a search term in the SERPs to result in more newsfeed coverage. I'm going to have to look into that more as it rolls out.
