How to generate traffic for a single static webpage?

Hey Webmasters!

I'm stuck at a major situation here - hope you guys can come up with a solution..

So here is my boss wanting me to generate traffic for a single static web page that is primarily dedicated to a plugin.. So basically it's a single web page of a plugin...

Now I told me it's merely impossible to generate traffic through a single webpage as Search Engines don't take them worthy enough...

But he seems disinterested...

So is there any way to generate traffic for a plugin page except search engines?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Am33n_GrG!

I presume you mean a single page website, (the whole website has one page only) and not an orphaned page from the existing website or a single page within the existing website?

No it's not an orphaned page or a single page within the existing website.. The whole website has one page only... And its a site that is dedicated to people who want to buy front end guest post plugin...

Doesn't matter if it's one page or 1000 pages; the principles are the same. You optimize for the traffic you want. Find out where your target audience is, and put your page in front of them. You're not going to get organic traffic overnight, so you might well have to pay for it to start. (You could also start an affiliate program, and if your plugin is worthwhile, people may write about it)

I agree, I'm assuming that your plug-in has its own keyword domain for the keyword plug-in?

No one knows the product now and what it does therefore you have to get it in front of many eyeballs as possible since its initial natural organic traffic will be almost zero.

When it's a recognised good plug-in organic traffic will take care of itself.

+1

That means you should emphasize the PROBLEM THAT IT SOLVES instead of the name of the product (unless the name of the product says the problem that it solves).

Because it is new, no one will be searching for the specific name of the product (unless you are already advertising it heavily).

But by emphasizing what it does (what problem it solves, or what benefit it provides, and where it is used), you will make it easier for people to find the page.

I hope this helps.

Hey Guys!

Thanks for the reply

Netmeg --- Well we have conducted an affiliate program.. But it's really hard to convince people to join the program... It's obvious who wants to join into a nobody's program that came out of the blue, right?

It's a wordpress plugin that focus on front end guest posting so i'm targeting influencers that are connected with Wordpress.. But responses are pretty low..Is there any way to increase the rate of affiliate program conversion... Where can i find more likely people that can join the affiliate programs?

Red Bar and Planet13 --- That's what i have been trying to do actually looking for people who can be benefited with the plugin... I have been forums, communities and groups.. Are there other platforms that i have missed?

You should not overlook the obvious.

Find a Hollowood (sic, I never use the WHY in that name) shill to paint it across their chest or butt and walk down Sunset Strip at 10am. by 4pm it will be on the local news wire and by 5pm will be on national.

In other words, how much do you want to spend to get known?

And also know that "hot zone of interest" is only good for about 72 hours--or less.

Otherwise, have your product reviewed by the community on all their blogs, just make sure that if you pay them to do it they state in their blog "advertorial" so you and they do not get cross-wise with certain governments and regulations regarding paid advertising.

Well, I have a network of contacts and friends and acquaintances to whom I would reach out if I wanted to do that. Where's your network?

In other words, while this thing was being developed, you should have be following/friending/engaging with targeted people so that they would at least know who you are and give you the benefit of the doubt when you announced. That's 90% of why I maintain a twitter account.

Yes Netmeg, you have a point there... And the thing is we did pitch with twitter but the reach wasn't that convincing... So i'm trying to figure out other ways we can find the potential customers that are willing to join our program..

here is the site --- <snip> this is the site that just recently opened an affiliate program... If you could suggest few ways we can grow connection toward affiliate program.. it would be awesome.. Heck! i would love to have you and your friends in the program...

No thanks. I am not an advocate of guest posting, as a general rule. And that's another issue you're gonna face - several years ago, you might have had better luck with it, but with all the FUD around links these days, just the words "guest posting" might be getting in your way.

(you don't need to waste the energy explaining that your plugin isn't in it for the links, this is not a sales forum. I'm just saying that perception is more important than reality when you're launching a product, and it's something you need to pay attention to. Plenty of bloggers got dinged (fairly or unfairly) for guest posts. That's a hurdle)

You got a point there, FUD around links has been a pain ... It's just so hard to grow a network from zero... And I really appreciate for the points you suggested Netmeg... Cheers man
