@SteveJohnston Action does not equal penalty, it seems. Hmm. Watching this space... [webmasterworld.com...]
I've seen several Penguin penalized sites revert from partial match notifications to " No manual webspam actions found" over the last 2-3 weeks.

FWIW - these notices dropped out of sites which have had some unrelated backlink tidying up going on, but by no means a machete job.

Has anyone else seen overall improvements resulting from the dropping of these notices?

Lots of glitches in WMT at the moment. I'm not sure I would read too much into it, but if it is backed up with recoveries then that is good news for a penalty heavy algorithm that has excluded some good sites from ranking.

We're not tracking enough sites to be confident of any trends. Interesting that glitches in WMT are being reported, as one of our clients had a manual action revoked yesterday but the notice in WMT is still in place.

Steve, we have had one client that took over 24 hours for the message to clear yet others less than 1 hour.

Whitey, recently we have had a couple of clients that had their manual actions revoked, yet neither showed any improvements in rankings at all. Nothing. Not like the old days where you had the revoked and then dramatic recovery in serps. Yes, it could be due to the large amount of links removed/disavowed, but I have a feeling its something more than just that. Building links to these sites has also not resulted in the increases we would have expected so its almost like a secondary loss of trust filter. Time will tell.

by the way, I have never seen personally a message just disappearing without a RR. Not yet anyway. But its not hard to imagine with all of the other reported bugs in WMT lately.
