I've a UK specific affiliate website. On 20th August, rankings for most keywords in top 10 and top 20 disappeared, having a total loss of 2/3 traffic from Google.

But, the ranking for home page for some keywords was still there and some keywords went to 11-30 positions. Inner pages also went out of 100, but few pages were still on top positions.

Exactly, after one month, on 21st Sep, all previous ranking is there. It's huge relief for me. But I want to discuss about this behavior. We'd done a reinclusion request three weeks ago. So, there could be some keyword penalties or like that?

Welcome to the forums.

It's good to hear about successful reconsideration requests. What kinds of changes did you make? Do you feel that they were the reason your site reappeared for those keywords - or is it still a mystery?

A few weeks ago, one of my sites (wordpress blog) was hacked, and the pages disappeared from the index.
Google sent me a mail, suggesting I should apply to reinclusion after the problems were fixed, and stating that that kind of penalty lasted at least 30 days.
I fixed the problems and was back into the index exactly 30 days after having disappeared.

@tedster: Well, I really don't know what are the culprits for the dip in rankings. It's a mystery.

As far as changes concerns: I've removed few blank resource pages, not other changes in website except few meta tags updation.
