GOOGLE AGREES TO ACQUIRE URCHINMOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - March 28, 2005 - Google Inc. today announced it has agreed to acquire Urchin Software Corporation, a San Diego, California based web analytics company.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
They'll get a lot of user/website data. Pretty clever move.

I am told, licenses will remain the same for at least 6 months.
I sure hope you got bad information. I can't imagine that they are selling any/many new licenses at this point. Until we hear what Google is going to do, this basically freezes Urchin's business. I had just finished up my evaluation of Urchin and was days away from purchasing a license for the Profit Suite when this was annouced. Now, I will wait until the end of April to see if Google provides more details. If not, I'll purchase my second choice - NetTracker.
I'm sure this move has the execs at WebTrends, Click Tracks et al. screeeeaming.
Good for google this products are overpriced. Essential for educated SEM, PPC, SEO, and eCommerce. But a niche that charges too much for its product (IMHO). Glad to see google making it affordable for the masses.
