Google is currently assessing the instructions from a Judge to hand over contacts details of four fake reviewers. The case is being held in Amsterdam over a fake reviews posted about a nursery, and although Google has removed the reviews, the damage has already been done.
Fake reviews are a big problem, and are far worse than one person having a bad experience and writing objectively about their experience. Not only can fake reviews damage a business and reputation online, but it's a battle to the bottom when competitors start doing the same thing.
An Amsterdam judge told the tech firm to release internet and email addresses, phone numbers and names related to four reviewers, one of whom assumed the identity of a dead woman.
