Going head-to-head with Apple Pay, Andoid Pay is going to be a challenger, i'm sure.

So we’ve approached Android Pay the same way we approach every other part of the Android family -- partnering with the ecosystem -- bringing together mobile carriers, payment networks, banks and retailers to deliver you choice and flexibility. And offering developers an open platform to collectively push mobile payments forward.

Tap to pay in stores
With Android Pay, you can simply unlock your phone like you normally do, place it near a merchant’s contactless terminal, and you’re good to go. Google Android Pay, Coming To 700,000 US Stores [officialandroid.blogspot.com]
Android Pay will soon be accepted at over 700,000 store locations from your favorite brands across the US, and in over 1000 Android apps.
Android Pay will be available on Google Play for download soon.

Apart from the fact that I do not have an Android phone I certainly wouldn't be letting Google have any of my details and, in any case, what advantage does this have over my contactless card for smaller payments and the same credit/debit card for larger purchases?

I have no doubt millions will be hoodwinked until there's a major system failure/hack and even then they'll most probably not query it!
