There have been dozens of quakes in the same area since it began, some very destructive earthquakes. They can't even try to rescue people until it stops. Sad news for many people.

I check quakes fairly often at the USGS site: [earthquake.usgs.gov...] if you want some perspective of its magnitude. :(

I check quakes fairly often

Living in California-- although geologically over the line into Cascadia-- I hurry to check whenever I feel one, because I need to know if it was a small local quake or a disastrous one further away.
