While the billionaire entrepreneur and investor works to sort out his team's character, his thoughts on Google seem to indicate a similar struggle for identity as the Internet giant faces competition from an unlikely source.

According to Cuban, "right now, maybe Google's a short."

If you see Google as a search engine then Cuban may be right. But if you see it as an ad platform, all the other Google products are just channels to serve their ads. The channels are disposable and if one channel doesn't work as good as it did, it can be replaced by another channel.

Facebook, Twitter and others are companies who try to monetize their product. Google is a monetizing company who tries to find channels to create money. The quick changes in their product portfolio may look like a lack of identity, but only if you don't look at their real identity which is the system built around AdWords.

Cuban is a blow hard - thinks he know's everthing about tech, but clearly doesn't.

Google may not last forever but there is no major competition atm

Interesting. Google's great at dead web search but bad at live web (Social Media) search.
