Google is building a new database of information called Knowledge Vault
Here are some two quotes from the article:

Knowledge Vault autonomously gathers and merges information from across the web into a single base of facts about the world, and the people and objects in it....

As well as the ability to analyse text on a webpage for facts to feed its knowledge base, Google can also peer under the surface of the web, hunting for hidden sources of data such as the figures that feed Amazon product pages

The article speculates that Google will use this Knowledge Vault to provide quick answers right on the search results page, but from a much larger database than the current Knowledge Graph.

Bill Slawski has been posting many things about the Vault... I would recommend checking out the post on his Google+ Page

Titled: BUILDING GOOGLE’S KNOWLEDGE BASE AND IDENTIFYING LOCATIONS IN WEB PAGES

Here is a quick summary, of what he is up to learning right now.
Posted 1/11/2014

When we talk about indexing and crawling content on the Web, it’s usually within the context of pages being ranked on the basis of a number of signals found on Web pages that might be ranked in response to queries. Google has told us that the future of search involves Knowledge Bases, and the indexing of Things, Not Strings. Gianluca Fiorelli explored Google’s ideas of Search in the Knowledge Graph Era earlier this week.

I cannot post the link but most of you know how this GEEK is. ENJOY

The information super highway is now the information super tollway and Google is the toll collecting Troll. Mothballing authorship is a sign of guilt IMHO. This search engine company is out of control, wanting to be every thing using everyone else's ideas. The more I read about Google, the more I have to ask the question: "what ISN'T evil about this company?"

They made then ruined many lives with their endless tinkering for their own ends. Now, as far as I can tell, it's all about profits and seeing who can sit on the biggest pile of cash possible. I own their stock and not a penny of dividends. Do something good for a change Google.
