The war against click fraud is a constant battle, so let's hope this acquisition makes a difference.

Today were announcing our latest investment: weve completed an acquisition of spider.io, a company that has spent the past 3 years building a world-class ad fraud fighting operation.

Our immediate priority is to include their fraud detection technology in our video and display ads products, where they will complement our existing efforts. Over the long term, our goal is to improve the metrics that advertisers and publishers use to determine the value of digital media and give all parties a clearer, cleaner picture of what campaigns and media are truly delivering strong results. Also, by including spider.ios fraud fighting expertise in our products, we can scale our efforts to weed out bad actors and improve the entire digital ecosystem.Google Acquires Anti-Click Fraud Company, Spider.io [doubleclickadvertisers.blogspot.com]

Interesting; I wonder if they're going to put it to work immediately on AdWords and AdSense (or just the Doubleclick stuff). I have no doubt whatsoever that Google is really struggling right now to to deal with the massive click fraud and bot problem; just my own AdWords and AdSense accounts are strong proof of that (and they've as much as told me so via support)

I too am hoping they get to this quickly. Clicks appear to be getting out of control. I have a feeling it'll be the big advertisers that'll get the attention first.

That was my thought on reading the headline graeme_p

As the worlds biggest addsupported search engine you would have thought they would also be the worlds experts no click fraud already.
